There aren't many places where you can spend the afternoon picking blueberries and then move from the field to the tasting room for delicious wines. Glenhaven Farm in Trumansburg is that kind of place. Some 50 acres (total) of U-Pick Blueberries and a delightful tasting room featuring their fruit wines: blueberry, blackberry, cherry, and raspberry, and an absolutely summer-perfect white table wine--Vidal Blanc. Glenhaven also produces a Cabernet Franc and a Pinot Noir as part of their small, 500 case/year bottlings. This makes finding Glenhaven Farm wines in the store nearly impossible. But that's okay because a visit to Glenhaven is a perfect way to spend a summer day for the whole family. Glenhaven is truly a seasonal operation. Blueberry picking on the farm started yesterday and the tasting room is open as long as the picking season. So if you have visions of blueberry pancakes in December, or even late August for the Eat Local Challenge or if you want to imagine yourself sipping a nice fruit wine while celebrating another beautiful day--get yourself to Glenhaven Farm soon.
