How did he know? The guy at the parking lot where I kept my car during my 30 hour trip to Philly didn't know me from Eve. He knew that I was staying at the excellent Penn's View Hotel next to the lot and, if he remembered my attire from the first day, he could probably identify me as a priest.
But as I traded my parking stub for my car keys and prepared to drive home to Syracuse he said to me....
"Have a delicious day!"
How wonderful is that? Did I look like a foodie? Did he look in the car and see my copy of The Omnivore's Dilemma peaking out from under my yoga mat, papers, and luggage? Did I look like the type who would be so absolutely thrilled to be told to have a delicious day?
I bid him the same, and drove away, with the passenger seat filled with, among other things, a bag of Metropolitan Bakery artisinal bread and imported jam.
Have a delicious day. Indeed.
I think I would have immediately started checking the front of my shirt for food stains!

Boy, do I have a lot of catching up to do! Lately I haven't had the time to regularly check up on your blog. I'm excited to see all the new posts!
Regarding The Omnivore's Dilemma: I've been thinking a lot about my eating philosophy lately. Having been a vegetarian organic gardener, and lately a reformed vegetarian omnivore and eat-to-live-er, I feel I've experienced a lot of the eating spectrum. I love food, the smells, the tastes, textures, variety and preparation. I'm just frustrated will all the micor-food-philosophy-categories that people are determied to subscibe to and find justification in.
On a similar note, I recently read an interesting article on a 'beyond vegetarian' website. I'll attempt to post a link here (I'm not very good at this stuff) http://www.beyondveg.com/bratman-s/hfj/hf-junkie-1a.shtml
Well, I guess that's all for now. I just wanted to say that I'm enjoying your blog VERY much! I'd also be interested in hearing your take on the Omnivore's Dilemma.
