Here's Chase hanging out in the garlic patch watching the scapes grow. What a life, huh? Things are coming right along here at Dorset Harvest Farm--yellow and red onions, rainbow chard, yellow squash, pumpkins and six different varieties of tomatoes (currently the size of marbles) all signal the bounty to come.
In the meantime, we've been enjoying red leaf and romaine lettuces, French breakfast radishes, and Red Russian kale all this week. And we've been cutting parsley, rosemary, and sage from our herb pots. Keeping up with the weeding has been a bear--but isn't it always? We've also discovered that some wild raspberry bushes that we thought we'd removed three years ago when we moved in have returned. We're going to let them stay and see if there isn't a raspberry tart or two in our future.
Archive Alert: On this date in 2005 I was unpacking the issue of labeling genetically modified foods.
